Hello! My name is Karen.

I am born and raised in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. I did my undergraduate degree at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and graduated in 2026 with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Geology. I have lived in Nova Scotia for my whole life - until now! After graduation, I moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario to pursue a career in mineral exploration. I am a rock enthusiast and if you're ever wondering where I am, chances are I am on rotation in the middle of no where, out in the bush, cracking open rocks.

I have been creating art since I was a child. I am basically a self-taught artist, except for a few art courses I took during my time at Acadia. I enjoy acrylic painting the most, but also dabble in collage work (my second favourite, though not very marketable), watercolours, oil pastel, and mixed media.

I am very excited to be a new member of the Thunder Bay Art Society. I am looking forward to creating art with these wonderful folks and participating in upcoming galleries and events in the Thunder Bay area.

P.S. don't be put off by the name... I'm not like the others, I swear!
